You are invited to attend and join senior lecturer John Doggett as he discusses Entrepreneurship and Sustainability in the Face of Global Competition.
Tickets will also include a buffet, half-priced drinks are on special and game cards will be awarded during the seminar.

This event is a great opportunity to meet with other McCombs BBA alums in the Dallas area in a fun environment.

Dunning /wp/scholarship-dinner/1733 /wp/scholarship-dinner/1733#comments Wed, 23 Jun 2010 02:36:28 +0000 admin /wp/?p=1733 Tom Dunning, a 1965 graduate of the University of Texas with a B.B.A., has been very active in civic, political, non-profits, and has severed in leadership positions for the city of Dallas and the state of Texas.

Tom is Chairman Emeritus of Lockton Dunning Benefits and serves on the boards of American Beacon Funds and Oncor Electric Delivery Company where he is the Lead Director. He is a Vice Chair of the State Fair of Texas, serves on both the Southwestern Medical and Baylor Health Care System Foundations, the University of Texas at Austin Development Board, and is helping to raise funds for the University of Texas School of Social Work.

Dallas Mayors have appointed Tom to chair a number of important boards. In 1987, when Dallas was facing a major racial crisis, Mayor Annette Strauss asked Tom to form Dallas Together and serve as his first Chair. Mayor Ron Kirk asked Tom to Chair the DFW International Airport Board and to primarily establish the Universities Center in Downtown Dallas which would allow Dallasites an opportunity to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree from a state university in Dallas. Mayor Laura Miller asked Tom to be the first Homeless Czar and to form a committee to determine where the homeless assistance center, the Bridge, should be located.

Governors of Texas have appointed Tom to serve on the Texas Department of Transportation, the Texas Department of Human Services, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and Chair of the Texas Water Development Board. Tom also served as Chairman of the Dallas Citizens Council, the Dallas Assembly and the Dallas Alliance.

Many honors have been bestowed on Tom including Dallas’ most prestigious award, the LINZ Award. Recently, he was elected to the Dallas Business Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the Anti-Defamation League Award, the Volunteer Centers Servant Leader Award, the American Jewish Committee Institute of Human Relations Award, and the Natural Leader Award from the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas.
